‘Torture’ injuries self-inflicted

Nine men standing trial for murder inflicted injuries on themselves and tried to pass it off as police torture, a medical examiner told Bahrain’s High Criminal Court yesterday.

Jailed for biting

A Bangladishi who bit his colleague’s finger in a row was yesterday jailed for three years by the High Criminal Court. Judges also ordered his immediate deportation upon completion of the sentence.
The 37-year-old defendant bit his fellow countryman’s left index finger in a row over money, causing five per cent disability.

Visa ban for Bangladeshis

Bahrain has stopped issuing work permits to Bangladeshi nationals. The restriction follows directives issued late last night by Interior Minister Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.
