Three men, who abducted and gang-raped a Filipina in Manama, were yesterday jailed for 15 years each.

The Bahrainis, aged 19, 20 and 21, snatched the woman off the streets as she was walking home from work late at night last September.

They were convicted of abduction, rape and theft by the High Criminal Court, which also ordered them to pay a combined total of BD500 compensation to the victim.

The defendants drove the 24-year old to an isolated area in Askar, before they gang-raped her and abandoned her, after stealing her mobile phone and purse.

All three had previously denied the changes.

The GDN had earlier reported that the victim was walking home from the hotel where she worked when the men, who were driving a rented car began following her and attacked her.

She later managed to identify her abductors’ car and the defendants’ DNA was discovered on her body after tests were carried out, according to the prosecution.
