Lebanese singing sensation Haifa Wahbe performed at Gulf Hotel last night in a show which had faced stiff opposition from certain quarters.
Wearing a demure green dress, she came on stage a little after 11 thanking everyone for support and performed in front of hundreds of fans.
Admitting to feeling some apprehension she said: “I hope I have good memories of Bahrain and I hope to leave you with a small one from Lebanonâ€.
The popstar’s performance had generated much heat and MPs had unanimously voted on Wednesday to ban her from performing in Bahrain.
However, the show passed off peacefully.
Starting off with a song from her latest album, Haifa then proceeded to talk to her fans, many of whom expressed their love and admiration for her. Mixing humour and some sarcasm, she asked her fans if she was allowed to tell them that she loved them.
Haifa sang a mix of old and new super-hits, lyrics of which many of the fans knew by heart.
