War on Corruption

A pledge to stamp out corruption went out from Crown Prince and BDF Commander-in-Chief Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa last night. He vowed to combat corruption in any government ministry, organisation or state-owned company.

Even if it goes as high as a minister, there would be no escape, he said as he visited Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs Minister Mansoor Bin Rajab’s majlis.

“No minister is above the law and if any minister is involved in any corruption case he would be dealt with,” said Shaikh Salman.

He also said that there was no room for sectarianism if Bahrain is to achieve its aims.

“We don’t accept any sectarianism in this country and I will issue orders to stop sectarian attacks, because we can’t accept any attack on any sect, whatever it is.”

Meanwhile, Shaikh Salman said the Municipalities and Agriculture Ministry and the Northern Municipal Council had a conflict over the route to the new BD1 billion Northern Town, currently underway.

“The Housing and Urban Development Committee, which I chair, has been asking for the past two years that they finalise something, but they haven’t and I am not the one delaying any finalisation of the route,” he said.
