MPs probe ’spring of sex’…

A parliamentary probe committee was formed yesterday to investigate acts by performers in the Spring of Culture festival, which have been labelled un-Islamic.

MPs unanimously voted to probe alleged irregularities with the Information Ministry, which has organised the event, and other concerned authorities.

The proposal was backed by all parliament blocs, who described the festival as the “spring of sex”.

Parliament second vice-chairman and Al Menbar bloc president Dr Salah Abdulrahman said the event included “sleazy dance moves”, which were offensive to Muslims and non-Muslims.

“Dancers were wearing degrading clothes,” he said. “I believe that this event has lost its goal, which was opening up to other cultures.”
