Bahrain will hold its parliamentary and municipal elections on November 25.

Bahrainis hoping to enter the 40-member Chamber of Deputies can register their candidacy between October 12 and 16, according to a royal decree issued by His Majesty King Hamad.

Meanwhile, candidates for the municipal elections can register between October 20 and 24, according to a decree issued by Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

Voting for parliament will be held from 8am to 8pm and for municipal councils from 8am to 6pm.

A second round of both parliamentary and civic elections, if necessary, will take place on December 2 between 8am-8pm and 8am-6pm respectively.

Eligible voters abroad can cast their ballots at embassies, consular and diplomatic missions on November 21, and for the second-round of voting, if required, on November 28.

Parliamentary candidates can file their nomination papers between 8am and 11.30pm and candidates for the municipal council polls between 8pm and 11pm during Ramadan and 6pm and 9pm after the end of the holy month.

Voters’ lists can undergo no alterations after the official issuance of His Majesty’s royal decree and the Premier’s decision mentioned above except for changes required by decisions and rulings that call into question certain registration inaccuracies or final decisions that strip voters of the right to cast their ballot.

  1. [...] Thank you your Majesty! We finally know that (a) the march toward democracy is continuing, which is a relief, and (b) we can finally get rid of the bozos who took the last elections boycotting move by the opposition to slip between the cracks and get themselves a cushy job. [...]
