Bahrain will go to the polls by December 13 at the latest it was declared yesterday.

The deadline for the municipal and parliamentary elections was revealed for the first time by Minister of State for Cabinet affairs and Central Informatics Organisation Shaikh Ahmed bin Ateyatalla Al Khalifa.

He said the exact date for the elections would be issued by decree in line with the Constitution.

Shaikh Ahmed said His Majesty King Hamad was keen to end the current legislative term and hold the forthcoming elections on time.

He said that everyone had the right to follow the elections and that there was nothing to stop any individual or organisations from doing so.

“Legal and administration procedures regulating the election process in Bahrain are of a high degree of transparency and close the door on any possibility of forging or rigging results,” he said.
