A devotional music concert, Golden Classics, will be held tonight at the National Evangelical Church, Manama.

YMCA International – Bahrain Chapter is hosting the event as part of its spiritual awareness activities.

The show will feature a number of all-time favourite classics of Christian devotional music, performed in its original classical form as composed by legends such as the late Kochukunju Upadesi and K V Simon.

“Similar shows have been conducted in Kerala and other GCC countries and have been a huge success,” said YMCA Bahrain general secretary Jiju Verghese.

“The audience enjoyed the originality and it evoked nostalgic memories. Some of the songs are more than 100 years old.”

The two-hour musical programme is directed by Denny Thomas (Muscat), who has arrived in Bahrain along with two other singers from Kerala.

“I want to assure the public that the hi-tech show, supported by audio visual presentations, will be very unique, and the first of its kind to be held in Bahrain,” said Mr Thomas.

“People should come and experience for themselves to realise that this is a unique event.”

The show starts at 7.30pm. Entrance is free and all are welcome.

The message for this evening will be given by renowned preacher and Bible Society of India Kerala Auxilliary secretary, the Rev Dr Samuel T Varghese.

Rev Dr Varghese, who is on a three-week visit, will also speak at special meetings being organised by the Thursday Prayer Fellowship Hall at the St Christopher’s Cathedral A M Hall at 7.30pm tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday. All are welcome.
