Curtain rises on Gulf radio and TV festival
Information Minister and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Mohammed Abdul Gaffar yesterday affirmed that the Ninth GCC Radio and Television Production Fes-tival, beginning today, stands as a link for continued ties between GCC states.
He stressed that the kingdom, represented by the Information Ministry, has exerted every effort to ensure the festival’s success and project it in a respectable manner, appropriate to Bahrain’s status as a cultural hub.
The minister emphasised the importance of the gathering towards reinforcing bonds of co-operation between Bahraini media and its GCC and Arab counterparts to elevate the Bahraini radio and television production.
Bahrain Radio and Television Corporation acting chief executive and Foreign Media Assistant Under-Secretary Shaikh Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Khalifa said a Gulf identity is the main bulwark in the face of surging Western trends being transmitted by various satellite channels.
